Stainless steel intended to come into contact with food shall meet the minimum chromium content requirement of 16% in the most current version of ANSI/NSF 51. Report data.

Note: -Stainless steel must have a minimum of 16% chromium content. In the case of cutlery/blades/other applications requiring a sharp edge, chromium content can be lower than 16% if the stainless steel is tempered or hardened by an appropriate post-heat treatment process. If the stainless steel contains less than 16% chromium (Cr), the vendor must provide documentation (e.g., letter of guarantee) stating that the cutlery has been tempered or hardened by an appropriate post-heat treatment process. FDA may allow the use of Stainless Steel that contains less than 16% Cr, however this is a case by case basis and the use of such material must be accompanied by a compliance letter from FDA.

-In lieu of testing, test report can be submitted if dated within one year.
